Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Classes for Homeschool Physical Education
Morning Classes for Homeschool Kids
To better support our homeschool communities, we offer morning classes for homeschooled kids. This allows children to participate in a meaningful physical education class, as part of their daily homeschool curriculum.
Gracie Barra Conroe is an advocate for holistic education and personal development. We understand the importance of providing well-rounded experiences for homeschooled children. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a great way to enhance your child’s education beyond textbooks and classrooms. It offers countless benefits for homeschooled kids — both physical and mental development — and can be a life-long sport. Here are a few examples of how Gracie Barra Conroe can enhance your child’s current homeschool curriculum.
Holistic Development
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu offers a well-rounded approach to growth — nurturing the mind, body and spirit. Our classes will complement your child’s academic learning by fostering discipline, focus and resilience — essential qualities for becoming successful in any endeavor.
Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is often referred to as “human chess” due to its strategic and tactical aspects, comparing the mental engagement required in BJJ to the strategic thinking involved in playing chess. Classes at Gracie Barra Conroe incorporate live training which challenges children to strategize and think on their feet (BJJ doesn’t involve striking, so there’s no punching or kicking). Consistent, ongoing training will allow your child to leverage these skills in academic challenges and real-world problem-solving.
Physical Fitness and Mental Well-Being
Regular exercise has been linked to various cognitive benefits that can positively impact your child’s academic performance. Our classes will enhance your child’s physical fitness and help improve their strength, flexibility and cardiovascular health and improve their mental well-being.
Build Confidence
Gracie Barra Conroe leverages a belt system, where your child progresses as they develop experience and skill. This progressive system, marked by belt advancements, will empower your child to set and achieve goals. As they conquer challenges in class, you’ll witness their self-esteem growing — paving the way for more confidence and a positive self-image.
Social Skills and Community
Homeschoolers can sometimes miss out on the social dynamics of traditional schooling. At Gracie Barra Conroe, homeschooled kids can come together in a safe, supportive community, where they form lasting friendships, learn teamwork and develop essential social skills that extend far beyond class.
